Gabe learns to kiss...

Unfortunately, its a small clip (and sideways, at that) but Gabe "kisses" now :). It's so precious when he does it. He giggles when he kisses his daddy on the lips, and smiles when he kisses me. He was so tired though this morning that only one kiss to Scout would do. Its a bunch of cuteness all the same.

I also have on my phone where he and daddy are having a growling match. Yes, he growls...and its ubber cute too. So as soon as I can get it up I will get it on here. Until next time!

Gabe eats a cookie...

So for the first time, after eating his "supper" of mixed veggies with whole grains, I let him have a treat. A cookie. A chocolate chip cookie.
"What the heck is THIS mama?"

"Maybe I should examine it first..."

"Okay a little taste test..."

"Mama, whatever this is...I need one every night"

"It's soooo yummy...it makes me extra happy!"

"You are the bestest mommy in the world!"

"I'm serious, mommy you are...if you give me one every night"

"All done...now what about a bath..."

A questionnaire....

1. Were you married at the time? I don’t like this question…. Technically we both were, but were going through divorces at the time.

2. What was your reaction when you found out you were pregnant? Shock, disbelief, worried, scared, and excited soon after.

3. How old were you? I was 23 both when we found out and when he was born.

4. How did you find out you were pregnant? I was at home, Josh was on light duty so he was just walking into work when I called him at 8 am on Monday, October 5, 2009. I, had no clue what I was going to do and was hoping he would tell me. He was in complete shocked and told me he was going to have to call me back. When he had hung up, I lost it. I cried and cried, unsure if I was going to be doing this alone, what my mom was going to think and how pissed she was going to be at me… I called the doctor, and got an appointment to “confirm” what the home test had already told me…but hell, I was thinking it was all a big joke at this point. Josh went with me to the doctors, I peed in a cup….a minute later the doctor comes in and says, “your really really pregnant”, I sigh and say… “What do you mean I’m really, really pregnant?” She then stated that it immediately came back with a very positive. I then got prescribed prenatals, and also got a HCG level done because I wasn’t really sure when my last menses was. We then started driving to walmart, Josh called his family….they were beyond excited. I was scared shitless to call mine, so I waited. I filled my prenatal script, and Josh went back to work… We both kept thinking, “Holy Shit”…. Later that night we were in love with the thought of being parents…

5. Who did you tell first? I told Josh, then he called his family after the doctor’s office confirmed it, then I told my family a few days later.

6. Did you want to find out the sex? Yes….And we did at 17w1d….A beautiful, amazing, wonderful baby boy

7. Due date? Haha, I honestly don’t remember now… and it’s only been 8 months.

8. Did you deliver early or late? Early. I was having some pre-eclampsia/blood pressure problems…so as soon as he was done cooking, I was induced. Thankfully too, because they said if I would have gone full-term or past due like normal first pregnancies, he would have been 10.5-11lbs…ugh ouch       !

9. Did you have morning sickness? Nope. I got a bit nauseous here and there with certain smells…but other than that, no.

10. What did you crave? 1st trimester: Fruit & Salads 2nd trimester: Fruit, salads, chocolate 3rd trimester: MEXICAN…I ate it pretty much every other day
J

11. What irritated you the most? Pretty much anything and everything. I was pretty moody.

12. What was your first child’s sex? Boy

13. How many pounds did you gain throughout the pregnancy? 50 lb total, but I was doing really good until I started gaining 4-5 lb of fluid every few weeks….

14. Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? Yep. Spotting at 14 weeks, Bedrest from March 13th until May 11th….pre-eclampsia/PIH/i.e. bad high blood pressure.

15. Where did you give birth? Western Missouri Medical Center

16. How many hours were you in labor? Induction started May 10th at 6am…. And started in active labor about 30 minutes after cytotec was inserted…gave birth at 7:29pm on May 11….so around 36 hours….

17. Who drove you to the hospital?
Josh

18 . Did you take medicine to ease the pain? Oh yes….I think I would have died without it. I did pretty good the first day, but Pitocin is a bitch, plain and simple. I got an epidural after my water broke and I couldn’t take it much more, I turned pretty much into the devil himself.
J And with what they to me after he was born to stop the bleeding, I am so so glad I got it because yeah….I think it probably would have felt worse than labor.

8 Months Old...

Where does the time go? One minute I'm birthing a baby, next he's pulling himself up and standing... Where did my little boy go? Once he liked to snuggle, now he mostly puts himself to sleep.

In eight short months Gabriel has changed from a teeny, tiny baby that scared the shit out of me... to a crazy, wild child that makes me crack up laughing with the silly things he does. He's fearless, independent, and loves to explore. But he does have his mommy & daddy moments.

Tonight, thankfully, he had one of them. He wanted to be cuddled while eating a bottle. I usually watch T.V. until he falls asleep, but not tonight. He laid there gently stroking my face and staring at me. He'd smile when I'd kiss his palm, and put his hand back to my lips as if asking me to do it again and again. He eventually started rubbing his own eyes, a Que to put him to bed, and the moment was over. I cherish these moments. They are my favorite.

So at 8 months old, Gabriel still only can say mama (pretty excited about it too)....but I'm sure he'll pick up--hell he's only 8 months old. He rolls, army crawls, sits, and pulls himself to a standing position. He can't crawl, nor get to a sitting position on his own...but all in due time. He's got 3 teeth (4,5,6 can be seen but not completely broken through the gums--give it another week or so), and thinks its funny when you say ouch after he chomps down on your finger. He laughs when the dog plays fetch, when someone says WEEEEEEE or BOOOOO... He loves to swing and we take him to the park when it's not freezing outside. He also loves stroller rides and will laugh at every dog that barks at him. Favorite Foods---pineapple & pears, hawaiian delight, pumpkin apple; spegetti, mainly any veggie, but carrots. He's started on stage 3 foods, but its slow moving....he hasn't gotten the grasp that there are chunks of noodles and such in them just yet. He loves playing, but has his momma's attention span and gets bored quickly. :) He is spoiled rotten....and I don't mind a bit. I don't know his height or weight, I'll get that tomorrow just for the hell of it.

Things we're looking forward to in the next year:
1st birthday, walking (he's heavy what can I say), more words, starting potty training at the end of the year, somewhere around october/november-ish (the sooner the better), first float trip :)....

Being Gabe's mom is amazing. And I'm super excited for the upcoming months and everything they will hold.

Teething...

It couldn't have been created by God, this has to be the makings of the devil for sure.

Gabe can handle bumping his head, falling down, or getting food in his eyes...hell, I think he's even better with shot, but teething, well thats a different story. He doesn't handle it well at all. As a matter of fact, he sucks at it.

December 15th, his first too came through...December 21st, his second...and last night number 3 & 4 popped through...and now number 5 & 6 want to come in as well. I'm thinking that it would be less traumatic if they would all just come through at once instead of one...at.a.freaking.time!
Teeth # 1 & 2

You can't really tell cause of the flash but you can see the bumps of the 4
(The two middle ones haven't popped through, but the ones to each side has)
These suckers have made my fun, amazing baby turn into a demon child. He doesn't handle it well. Last night he finally fell asleep around 2 am after fighting both Josh & I. Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Orajel, Teething tablets had absolutely no effect on him whatsoever. I finally said, thats it....we are going for a drive. And after 30 minutes he was out. Then up again at 4 then again at 9.... Can you tell I don't handle teething well either? It's completely messing up our sleeping schedule.
